Suffixes: Surgery-incisions

These suffixes describe types of incisions made during surgery.

Suffix Meaning Example
-ectomy removal     mastectomy

-centesis tap, puncture      thoracentesis

-stomy mouth, forming an opening colostomy
colon
-tomy incision,
to cut into
tracheotomy
